What you should know about Douyin photo albums
Douyin's photo posts (图集, "image collections") are everywhere: photographers, recipe cards, infographics, fashion lookbooks. Each post is a carousel of two to thirty-plus images synchronized to a soundtrack. The trap most downloaders fall into is treating the post as a video — they end up screen-recording the rotating carousel, which caps every slide at video resolution and burns in the progress bar. GDown instead reads the post's image manifest and fetches the actual image files, which are typically 1080×1440 or larger.
The images arrive exactly as the CDN serves them — no re-compression, no downscaling, no metadata stripping. You can save slides one at a time with the download icon on each thumbnail, or press "Download All" and let the tool bundle the entire set into a ZIP. That bundling happens inside your browser with JSZip: the images stream straight from the platform into an in-memory archive on your device, so nothing passes through a GDown server disk (there is no server disk — the pipeline is serverless by design).
Photo posts appear under two URL shapes: douyin.com/note/… and the generic /video/… path that the app sometimes reuses for slideshows. Both are detected automatically — you never have to pick a mode. The soundtrack of a slideshow can be downloaded as MP3 alongside the images.
Frequently asked questions
Are the saved images original quality or re-compressed?
Original. GDown relays the exact binary payload the Douyin CDN serves — typically full-resolution WebP (openable in any modern browser and convertible to JPG) — with no second compression pass.
How do I download all slides at once?
After the gallery loads, press "Download All (ZIP)". Your browser assembles the archive locally; on a 20-slide album this takes a few seconds and saves one .zip file.
Does the ZIP include the background music?
The ZIP contains the images. The soundtrack is attached as a separate MP3 button on the result card, because most people want the audio separately or not at all.
The gallery shows fewer images than the app. Why?
Some accounts lazy-load a "more" batch in-app. The manifest GDown reads lists what the post actually contains; if numbers differ consistently on a public post, send us the link and we will investigate.
